Mariners is currently involved in a large, multi-site research project being conducted through the University of Southern California, Northwestern University, Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center, Southwest Missouri State University, and the University of California at Los Angeles.

Mariners will be contributing in the MUSSEL (Muscle-Specific Strengthening Effectiveness Post Lumbar Microdiscectomy) segment of this research project examining muscle specific strength training effectiveness following a single level lumbar microdiscetomy surgical procedure.
